I hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. I also hold graduate degrees in Clinical Psychology and Anthropology. I have worked in behavioural health for over 20 years. In my private practice I provide individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing a wide range of psycho-social issues.
I am certified by the National Anger Management Association as a Certified Crisis Intervention Specialist - III and a Certified Anger Management Specialist - III. I have presented internationally on behavioral health and crisis intervention as well as forensic behavioural health and violence reduction. In addition to private practice, I teach Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) skills to law enforcement and fire service personnel at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. I also provide training in crisis communication and crisis response to Federal and State law enforcement agencies, social service agencies, universities, and private companies.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR Consulting, LLC and use EMDR Therapy to address trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression.
Prior to pursuing a career in behavioural health I served for 10 years in the US Air Force. While in the Air Force I was lucky enough to live and travel throughout the world. Thru my travels I developed a great appreciation for the many cultures that I encountered while living and traveling abroad. This appreciation informs my psychotherapy practice today.
